Any time you want to discuss outdoor activities at the home there are an unlimited number of options of games that you and your family can participate in. I grew up on a farm and as such, as children my brothers and I had to use our imaginations. That never stopped us from having fun. Quite the contrary actually.

We are fortunate enough to have a swimming pool close by, which in itself provides hours of entertainment for the kids. The dog gets involved too and we love to play king of the castle using rafts and noodles.

One great way to get some solid exercise while enjoying the scenery of the outdoors is to go on a hike. Whether it’s a simple trail or a challenging ascent, find something within the physical constraints of you and your kids, that will be difficult, but rewarding.

Another exciting activity if you have a body of water close by is to go kayaking. Kayaking requires a good amount of upper body strength, yet can be a very peaceful activity if you are doing so on a placid lake.

If you are simply looking to have a good time in the backyard, get a game of football going. If you don’t have the space for it, improvise and come up with a similar style of game that requires some level of cardio activity to provide you with a little bit of a workout.

If you have an area for a tree house close by, that is never a bad idea for good times. My father built us a tree house when I was younger and I honestly do not know what I would have done without it. That was our home base.
