The mind blowing American rock band, Bon Jovi is from Sayreville, New Jersey. It was formed in 1983 by the leading singer Jon Bon Jovi on the forefront. The other performers of the band include Richie Sambora as the guitarist, David Bryan as the keyboardist, Alec John Such as bassist and Tico Torres as the drummer. Alec John Such left the band in 1994 and he was replaced by Hugh Mc Donald. The rest of the band members had been the same since 26 years. In 1988, with the release of New Jersey, Bon Jovi was raised into global super stardom.

The fame provided non stop touring to the band. In 1990, after the New Jersey trip, the band underwent an interruption. At that time Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora released successful solo albums. The album, Keep the Faith brought back the band in 1992. Since then success was with Bon Jovi through out 1990s and 2000s. The latest release from them is The Circle. The successful career graph of the band includes ten studio albums, two compilation albums and a live album along with 120 million albums sold across the globe. They have toured over 50 countries and treated more than 34 million music lovers with their mesmerizing performance by 2600 concerts or more. In 2004, Bon Jovi was on the 14th position in Q Magazine’s 50 All Time Greatest Bands. In June 2009, Bon Jovi recorded a cover of the song “Stand by Me” with Iranian singer Andy Madadian. A portion of this song was sung in Farsi. This song was a token of solidarity for the Iranian victims of violence.

Biography Celia Birtwell
Celia Birtwell is a textile designer. Born in Salford, Lancashire, in 1941, she studied Textile Design in Manchester, where in 1959 she met the fashion designer Ossie Clark, whom she married in 1969.

Theirs was an almost perfect marriage of style, and their work together defined the era. The collaboration began with a 1966 collection for the Quorum boutique in London, which they shared with the designer Alice Pollock. It was the Clarks who began the modern catwalk show: the previous procession of modelled clothes was put to music, the London glitterati was invited, and the shows became events. Birtwell worked at home designing textiles for Clark, who would use his skill in cutting and understanding of form, together with her knowledge of fabrics and textures to produce haute couture for the emerging ’60s culture. This included work for the Rolling Stones and Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, as well as Pattie Boyd, Marianne Faithfull, Bianca Jagger, Verushka, Paloma Picasso, Talitha Getty and numerous other international celebrities. She has been a muse for the painter David Hockney since 1968, and features in his 1970 painting Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy, one of Hockney’s most celebrated and one of the most viewed paintings in the Tate Britain gallery on Millbank. In 2005 it featured on the Today programme’s shortlist of the ‘Greatest Painting in Britain’.

They had two children together, Albert (born 1969) and George (born 1971), but their private relationship could not match their professional, and they divorced in 1974 due to Clark’s hedonistic lifestyle and his homosexual relationships. After the break-up of her marriage Birtwell continued in fashion, designing for the Radley label for a time, until in 1984 she set up a shop on Westbourne Park Road in Bayswater selling fabrics for the home. Again she built up a reputation for innovative and witty design. Her first success came with her own take on a 16th century animal print she called ‘Animal Solo’, followed later by the first, and much copied, white on white voile and muslin fabrics. These fabrics are now to be seen in many homes, hotels and public spaces, including Claridge’s and The Lanesbourough Hotels in London; The Grand Hotel, Leeds; The Dubai Hilton, and many more.
In 2005 it was announced that she would design clothing for the high street chain Topshop, beginning with Spring/Summer 2006. Her first collection was a huge success, selling out within minutes of the shops opening. In April 2008, Celia designed a limited collection for American fashion retailer Express. In 2008, Millets launched a camping and outdoor footwear and clothing range designed by Celia Birtwell – new lines have also been added to the range for Summer 2009.

Talent, Passion and Beauty are the words that define an Artist. What I mean? Talent – I think there is a simple truth here. You were either born with it or you weren’t. But talent comes in many varieties and categories. Many people have talents they haven’t discovered; or they have discovered them but choose not to pursue them.

I believe everybody has some sort of talent. It could be painting, drawing, or sculpting. It could be singing, playing musical instruments, or having a special sense of rhythm. It could be cooking, designing fashions or in architecture. It could be in writing, film making, dramatic acting, comedy or magic. It could be one’s business acumen in financial management, marketing, design engineering or in leading a workforce. It could be very clearly in your dreams. This list could go on ad nausea.

Passion – The drive to start, pursue and complete your next creation. An Artist without passion is one who is experimenting or exploring in an attempt to discover and develop one’s talents. If one’s initial experiment is critiqued as having even a modicum of beauty by even one reviewer, passion may start to grow. Artists without passion can be very critical of their own work, which can kill their passion. This, in turn, may cause them to bury their talents.

Beauty – Is in the eye of the beholder? Many creations, even though the Artist has completed his work, start out ugly. The work can be transformed into one of beauty when just one person openly opines and says, “Now isn’t that a work of beauty!” If those folks who sloughed it off overheard this comment, they will likely take a second look, another taste, or even ask to hear it again.

Then, hopefully a second person will soon chime, “I like it!”, with others hearing the appreciative praise. Then three, four, and five, etc., will follow in the appreciative. A work of Art can be transformed from ugly to beautiful starting with one simple, favorable opinion.

So, who is an Artist? One who creates something, with at least a modicum of passion, and asks someone else, “Well, what do you think?
